Our composite undercarriages are built from a high temperature epoxy (they will not wilt on a hot day), and combinations of Carbon / Glass & Aramid fibres. Most are primarily Carbon fibre. The construction is predominately via CF rovings with cloth reinforcement in the bolt areas. Most are airfoiled for low drag, several smaller UC are flat plate with rounded edges style.
Note : It is quite OK to cut our F3A gear in half and space apart to fit different fuselage widths.
News : All carbon Wheel Pants (spats) are NOW solid black / CF cloth colour / pattern OR Painted WHITE in urethane. They look great in both styles.
New size soon, F3A Winged is in pre production. It is the latest in "canard" style UC to aid low speed stability.

| Wheel Pants. |
|
Unique to Bolly, is the use of an indentation / location area designed to lock into the appropriate undercarraige leg. (57mm WP is plain and will fit any UC)
The normal construction is of lightweight glass fibre / epoxy with carbon fibre reinforcement around the undercarriage / axle mounting area. We also make the F3A wheel pants in (predominantly) carbon fibre, with kevlar reinforcement at the axle. these are not lighter, but much stronger. We could make lighter versions but the strength is insufficient for long term reliability.
We use the DuBro "Spring Steel Axle Shafts" (mainly cat. 248, 2" x 5/32 dia) to attach the undercarriage / wheel and wheel pant together. Our choice of wheels is the Dave Brown - treaded Lite-Flite wheels (our shop sells the 2.25", 2.75" and 3.5" versions). It is important to not use a wheel which is too flexible or wide as they can damage the wheel pants in a heavy landing.
