Bolly I.F.A

In Flight Adjustable

It was simply a matter of time before it happened - how could we resist putting our blades into an in-flight adjustable hub. It's an exciting development for Bolly Props.

News (May 11 2008): Due to a revision of our business and manufacturing infrastructure for this product, product release will be delayed until 2009. Test props are currently flying, and a collaborative OEM project is being used on hovercraft, plus a purpose built propeller is being designed and tested for an OEM customer - who shall for now remain nameless.

Histroy.

The first prototype was tested in October 2005 on our 200hp test rig with the aim of determining load data and to find the mechanical boundaries. Our second prototype was on show at "Narromine 2006" in 2 Blade mechanical and 3 Blade electric formats for Rotax 912 / 912S. (see picture).

Since then we have decided to redesign the product to use internal pitch control mechanisms (the original external versions were suspect to wear and was difficult to cowl inside "normal" spinners). The revised design is being developed via CAD for optimal CNC production.

Initially we will have 3 versions in 2B or 3B for Rotax 912

  • Bolly IFA - M   (mechanical)
  • Bolly IFA - E    (electrical)
  • Bolly IFA - R    (reversible - mechanical only)

And later props to suit applications up to 260hp.

So Please ... hang onto those questions until we announce availability of the mk 2. It will be worth the wait.

After Narromine we will have a full IFA flight testing program to complete. Interested ??  -  drop us an email.

PS. We wish to advise we no longer have an associoation with Sportair of Lismore, NSW.
